About the Imams and Rabbis Council of the United Kingdom

The Imams and Rabbis Council of the United Kingdom was established in 2009, following the Historic Mission of European Imams and Rabbis to the United States, under the aegis of the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding, the World Jewish Congress and the Islamic Society of North America. Further to that historic event, it was resolved that there be established an official body in Europe run entirely and solely by ordained and qualified rabbis and imams, and Jewish and Muslim academics, with no lay people, secular or interfaith politicians. Accordingly, the Charity Commission for England and Wales registered the incorporated charity, Children of Abraham (Bnai Avraham-Banu Ibrahim) in which every single staff member is an ordained rabbi or imam or academic holding appropriate higher degree qualifications in the field from Jewish and Islamic universities and colleges of higher learning. The Imams and Rabbis Council of the United Kingdom is internationally recognised as a full member of the World Congress for Jewish Muslim Co-operation under the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding in the United States.
